i want it

It's a taxi cab kinda night in the cit-ay...

Last night Jim and I made our way into the city for the Michael Tolcher concert. We got to Penn and waited in line for our cab - we should've known something wasn't quite right when the people who got out of it before us said, "He's new and doesn't know where we want to go." I would've waited for another one, but the Taxi Nazi who controls the line in front of Penn probably would've deafened me with his damn whistle if I didn't get in.

After getting to the Village, he pulls over and takes out his map. Never a good sign. He starts driving for a few more blocks... and then we get to the Holland Tunnel. So then he stops again, looks at the map, drives in a city-block circle, looks at the map again, all while the meter is still running. FINALLY Jim takes the map away from him and has to point to where we want to go. Then we were stuck in traffic so we were finally just like, "It's ok, we'll get out here." He tried to tell us he knew where he was going now and was like, "Only 5 more blocks!" But we got out and it ended up being more like 9 blocks, but whatever. Don't drive a cab if you don't know where ANYTHING is!

The Bowery Ballroom is a cool place for a concert - big enough so that it's not claustrophobic but small enough so that even if you're in the back you have a pretty good view. We got there a little late after the cab debacle and so we missed the first act, but got there as Ingram Hill was starting. They were really good (I just ordered their CD this morning) and it doesn't hurt that their lead singer is hoooot.

Michael Tolcher only has one CD out, but he played every song off of it - and was even running around the floor dancing during one song. I ♥ him.

While Ingram Hill was still on stage, Jim and I recognized two of the guys from Michael Tolcher's band walking around the floor and pointed them out to Jane. Right after Ingram Hill was done, Michael Tolcher walked right past us and I was like, "THAT'S HIM!" He turned around when he heard me and said Hey but I felt like such a moron. So smooth.

We also saw the lead singer of Ingram Hill as we were coming back from the bathroom and later on he walked past us and Jane poked him. Jim was the only civilized one who told him he had a great show. :) But it was a lot of fun, both bands were really good.

Today Jim and I both took off from work and went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I liked it, but Johnny Depp and the Oompa Loompas both kinda freaked me out. And what happened to the whole Slugworth part? We also snuck into to see Batman Begins afterwards - it was pretty good and I managed to keep my drooling over Christian Bale to a minimum. :P

Oooh and we stopped at McD's for lunch and I started to walk up when it was my turn. This 5-year old kid behind me was like, "Hey! It's MY turn!" and then the brat HIT ME! I was so tempted to punt that kid across the room, but instead I just gave him and his mother my patented death glare. Little jerk. I hope they spit in his happy meal.

ahhh cabbies. at least you didn't end up IN the holland tunnel!!!
I know!! Once we got there I was ready to get out then - but we were in the middle of no where and it looked like it was about to pour, so I reallly didn't feel like waiting in the rain looking for another cab.
The kid hit you?! Ha!

Also, I haven't snuck into a movie in years! No one is ever willing to do it with me. Cowards.
I've been a few times with the intentions of going to two... but after the first one I usually can't sit still for much longer. Towards the end of Batman I was ready to jump out of my chair. :)
Boy is bands (not boy bands) are so hot. Are they well known? Ive never heard of them.

LMAO at your taxi - perhaps you shoulda put the fat miccy d's kid in his cab :)

I am seeing Charlie tonight! yey it premieres today ... and guess what. I.have.never.seen.the.original....
it was on TV on sunday and I mised the first 30minutes so ill get it on DVD.

-ddt-
No, the first time I heard of Michael Tolcher was when he opened for Gavin DeGraw and I bought his CD after the concert... and Ingram Hill I hadn't heard of until Wednesday night. They were really good though.

You've never seen it?! That might be better actually - I think I would've liked the new one more if I didn't spend the whole movie comparing it to the old one.
what about the umpa loompa umpa de dooo I've got another riddle for you!

Also what about thing that charlie and grandpa eat to make them float? that whole scene was gone!

And the squirrels were suppose to be chickens that laid golden eggs!!!!

When I saw the previews for the movie..I was like "what the hell...what r the damn squirrels doing???!! Theres no golden nuts!" John was screaming at me to shut up. I still havent seen the new movie.
ahhahaha the 5 year old kid story is great. i probably would have smacked him. :ox
I know, I was tempted... but I wouldn't want to get arrested for child abuse or anything. :)

Hmmmm....I just posted a comment and it didnt show up.

Anyways, y did u wait on the cab line..y didnt u guys just walk like a couple blocks and get a cab off the street?

Did that kids mom say anything to him? I hate bratty kids..I swear that if my kids are bratty, I want poeple to tell me so I can smack em around. I know kids misbehave and stuff, but theres no reason to be bratty. I also hate it when parents let their kids run wild in inappropriate places..like catering halls. As if its not hard enough to carry huge trays of chicken and steak to each table without dropping anything...lets add 10 little children running all around u and in between ur legs...good times...grrrrr
Omigod..I am so silly. My browser automatically connects me to my friend page without me signing in, so I was posting anonymous comments..what a dope!
I love having fun with cabbies.

DJ and I had the best one ever though. At one point (even though we were both trashed) we just pulled over and was sitting there until we realized that the light was green and was just letting the meter run.

We're both happy drunks so we just laughed at what as ass he was though. Much love for NYC.
Haha... well I guess it all kind of worked out - on our way back we had a driver who forgot to start the meter until we were halfway to Penn!
isn't Karma grand?!
